#buildingthekingdomwithnineyearoldkids

So… a week when you baptize is ALWAYS a good week!  We had a baptism on Saturday! #buildingthekingdomwithnineyearoldkids.   It was way cool and we have another baptism this Friday. Then we have General Conference, so this is going to be a really good week! Here are the pictures of the baptism! There is also a picture of our zone with Elder Ochoa, our mission president, President Spjut and his wife .

Also we ran into one of the kids, Walter, from my first area, which was really cool! It felt so weird seeing him again and reminiscing about all the fun we had almost a year and a half ago. It’s crazy to think how fast time flies! We might have changes in a couple weeks but we still don’t know!

Things have been going good. We are still struggling to find new investigators… but it’s kind of weird to think how, for us struggling here, would be like a lot of success in other missions. So I guess I can’t complain too much, but would still appreciate if you all prayed for usss!!!

I’m so happy to see that Adam came into to the world! #freshfromthepresenceofgod!!
I wish he could talk and tell us all about the preexistence. Well I hope everyone is as pumped for General Conference as I am! GET SPIRITUAL!

I love you all and have a great week!

Cool Multi-Zone Conference with Elder Ochoa!

Hey folks.
Well… This week was good. The lake trip kind of stunk because it was rainy and overcast, but it was still fun. It made me really miss swimming and lake trips.

The work is going really good. We brought 5 investigators to church and we have a baptism set for this Saturday. We also have another lady with a date to be baptized in October. So that will be cool!

On Thursday we had a really cool experience. Elder Adrian Ochoa, the first counselor of the Area Presidency of Central America, came and spoke to us. We had a really great multi-zone meeting with him. I learned a lot of stuff and really felt the spirit there.

The first thing he told us was that he was there on orders from the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve… Super Crazy :-0 He talked a lot about faith and how we need to show our true faith through how we act.  Also, we need to fear God more than man. He told us to focus on finding the chosen children of God. He said that if someone shows resistance to our message, we just need to leave them and move on to find the people that are actually prepared to receive the gospel. So that was really cool.

Things are going really good here. I like this area! I don’t have changes until October. General Conference is coming up and it will be my last one in the mission;-0 I really have to take advantage of the spirit that I feel in General Conference as a missionary. It’s crazy how different it is.

I love you all and hope you have a great week! Thanks for all of your love and prayers!

Love,
Elder Hoy

Ups and a Down

Well this week was a good one with some ups and downs. The only down was that I got really sick yesterday with some bad food poisoning! #donteatporkifyouareincentralamerica… SO that was fun. But it already passed so I am good to go.

We have a baptismal date with a nine year old girl named Jenifer. It’s really sad because her dad is an inactive returned missionary. It’s so sad to see how they live and how God can’t bless them because they don’t live the gospel. He collects plastic bottles and recycles them for a living. I just wish that he could go back in time and have remained active in the church to see the difference it would have made in his life. We are starting to reactivate his wife so the daughter can get baptized.

Jose, another investigator, is still coming to church but he still isn’t sure about getting baptized. We had a good lesson with him on Friday. I went with Elder Baker, my buddy from Gilbert and our zone leader, and the spirit was really strong when a member girl that was there bore her testimony. But even after that, he still didn’t want to commit to a date. But we are getting really close!

Today we are going to go to this really pretty lake in our zone, so next week I’ll have more pictures to send home! I love you guys and hope y'all have a great week!

The picture is of  me and Elder Baker.

Message sent to Brother Ward. (Young Mens President from our ward):

Well if I had to say something about the message of The Restoration of the Gospel,  I could only say this; That it is a message of love. From the first principle to the last, everything is about the love of our Heavenly Father. He is our loving Father and loves us so much that He gave His only son to die for us, just so that we could return to Him. His gospel blesses our lives so much and He reveals it through His servants, the prophets. and He has restored His gospel because He loves us! And the best way we can show our love for Him is by sharing the restored gospel and keeping the commandments! I love missionary work and I know that the Lord blesses us when we are in His service!

Pray For Us and the Work:-)

Hola Familia!!!
Good to hear that all is well! Yeah... you guys should totally serve a mission! That would be way cool...and then be mission president in the future!!! Well, this week was good. I did an interchange with my Zone Leader who is from Gilbert and we stayed up till like 12 just talking about random AZ stories. That was a big mistake because I got super ''Baggy'' or homesick...but NOT really.

We have been working really hard and we are meeting a lot of our goals. We have four people we could potentially baptize this month, and a few more for October. PRAY FOR US!!! So we are doing really good.

That's cool that you're friends with Madelin on FB. I love that family so much. They are just like our family...super sarcastic, funny, way awesome, loving.. and they are all good looking...ha-ha! So we are basically the same!

My companion and I are getting along good. We had like a 2 hour long talk the other day and laid it all on the table and everything is going way better!

That's great that you're working on our genealogy and that you found William Hoy from Ireland. That's so cool to think about all my ancestors. I always tell people my name is Irish and they think that’s pretty cool.

The pictures are of  a GIANT grasshopper,  a super cool soccer jersey I bought because it has my name on it: ( the actual player's name is James David Rodriguez!) and an old church in Santa Ana!

I hope y'all have a great week! I love you all and Jesus does too!!!

Just A Normal Week

Hi Momma!
Well this week has been alright... just a normal week. My new companion, Elder Gonzalez, and I have been having our differences but we’ve been able to work through them. We are teaching a boy named Jose. He has been coming to church for the last 3 Sundays. We are going to fast this Sunday for him.We are praying that he can accept a date for later this month to be baptized.

We just found out that we aren’t going to have changes this transfer so I’ll be here with Elder Gonzalez another 6 weeks. I’m really happy about that because I don’t want to leave this area. It is way cool and we get fed really good!!! ha-ha. No matter how much I eat I don’t get fat... I’m not complaining.

Not much new has happened this week and I didn’t really take any new pictures either… Sorry. But I love you guys a lot and hope y'all have a great week!
Much Love, Elder Hoy
